EDUCATION IS THE KEY
It unlocks the meaning of words which hearing babies learn easily from those around them.
WITHOUT APPROPRIATE EARLY INTERVENTION
The outlook is bleak for deaf Tanzanian children. Unable to communicate even with close family members they may become withdrawn and isolated or through frustration may develop anti-social and aggressive behaviour.
ACTIVE INTERVENTION
By specialist teachers, speech training and/or learning sign language, enables a profoundly deaf child to develop effective communication skills. Ability to read opens the world for a deaf child.
